シューマン夫妻とブラームスの関係性をテーマにした天才ピアニストのニュー・アルバム

ベンジャミン・グローヴナーはイギリス生まれの天才ピアニスト。2004年に史上最年少11歳でBBCヤング・ミュージシャン・オブ・ザ・イヤーのピアノ部門で優勝を果たしました。さらに2011年BBCプロムス・オープニング・コンサートに史上最年少で出演し、同年音楽家として史上最年少で、そしてイギリスのピアニストとして60年ぶりにデッカと専属契約を結びました。
30歳にしてすでに世界中の批評家、聴衆から変わらぬ人気を得ているグローヴナー。今回リリースされるのはシューマン夫妻とブラームス、3人の作曲家の作品を採り上げ、その関係性をテーマにしたアルバムです。最初の作品はシューマンの8曲からなるピアノ曲集《クライスレリアーナ》。E.T.A.ホフマンが創り出した架空の人物、ヨハネス・クライスラーを描写していますが、クライスラーの浮き沈みのある、夢見がちな性格は明らかにシューマン自身の悲劇的な躁うつ病の傾向を反映しています。グローヴナーは作曲家のこの正直な自己表現に対して、卓越した優しさ、見事な多様性、想像力豊かな共感で応えています。シューマンの愛した妻クララによるメランコリックな《ロベルト・シューマンの主題による変奏曲》、そしてブラームスが自身とシューマン夫妻との間にあった複雑な関係性に魅力的な光を与えた作品、《3つの間奏曲》も収録されています。シューマンの《夕べの歌》はグローヴナーの編曲です。
