■ラトヴィア出身の俊英指揮者、ネルソンスと彼が音楽監督を務めるボストン交響楽団のショスタコーヴィチ・シリーズ「スターリンの影の下のショスタコーヴィチ」第３弾！
シリーズ第1弾の「ショスタコーヴィチ：交響曲第10番、他」（UCCG-1709）は、第58回グラミー賞クラシック部門「ベスト・オーケストラル・パフォーマンス部門」を、第2弾「交響曲5番、第8番、第9番、他」(UCCG-1741/2)もまた第59回グラミー賞の同部門を受賞しました。

■「スターリンの影の下のショスタコーヴィチ」シリーズ～DGとボストン交響楽団はショスタコーヴィチの交響曲第5番～第10番に管弦楽作品を加えた5枚のアルバムの契約を発表しましたが、第1弾の絶賛を受けて交響曲全曲録音へ企画変更しました。
全米ビッグ5の一角である名門ボストン響はクーセヴィツキーやミュンシュが育て、小澤征爾が1973年～2002年黄金期を築いた人気のオーケストラ。若く才能溢れる音楽監督を迎え新たな時代を築きます。
今回は昨年の来日公演で圧倒的な名演で度肝を抜いた交響曲第11番と、マーラーの影響が色濃く編成も最大で技術的にも至難の第4番を収録しています。

■1978年に、当時まだソ連領だったラトヴィアのリガに生まれたアンドリス・ネルソンスは、ショスタコーヴィチの音楽の演奏に対して独自の視点をもっています。
彼はソビエトの音楽的伝統のもとで教育された、最後の指揮者の一人です。そしてサンクトペテルブルクで長く学んだネルソンスは、ロシアの偉大な巨匠たちの伝統を受け継ぐと同時に、レパートリーの中核をなすドイツ作品では西欧の巨匠たちの伝統も受け継いでいるという、現在ではたぐいまれな指揮者の一人でもあります。
ドイツの名門、ライプツィヒ・ゲヴァントハウス管弦楽団の第21代カペルマイスター（首席指揮者）にも就任し、ゲヴァントハウス管とはブルックナーの交響曲全曲録音シリーズが、2020年のベートーヴェンのアニヴァーサリー・イヤーに向けてはウィーン・フィルとベートーヴェン交響曲全曲録音が進行しているという最も期待を集めている実力派です。
